Main Purposes of Job

  1. To support the installation, configuration, and maintenance of audio-visual systems across educational and commercial sites.
  2. To assist senior technicians in delivering high-quality AV solutions including sound systems, projection, lighting, and control systems.
  3. To develop technical skills and industry knowledge through hands-on experience and training.

Key Tasks

  1. Assist with the setup and installation of AV equipment including projectors, speakers, microphones, lighting rigs, and control systems.
  2. Support testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of AV systems both on-site and in-house.
  3. Help prepare equipment for delivery, including packing, inventory checks, and basic configuration.

Key Results/Objectives

  1. Gain proficiency in AV technologies used in schools, colleges, houses of worship, and commercial venues.
  2. Contribute to successful project delivery by supporting engineers and ensuring equipment is installed to specification.
  3. Demonstrate growth in technical ability and understanding of AV systems through regular feedback and training milestones.

Responsible For

Assisting with AV equipment including speakers, mixers, microphones, projectors, and lighting systems.
Maintaining tools and ensuring safe working practices.

Reporting To

General Manager

Additional Information

  • Location: Based in Shrewsbury, with travel to client sites across England.
  • Working Hours: Flexible, based on project and site requirements. A standard working week is approximately 37 hours, but some variation may be required depending on installation schedules and client needs.
  • Salary: Starting at £13.00 per hour (approx. £25,012 annually pro rata)
  • Training: On-the-job training provided with opportunities for progression into qualified technician roles

Main Purposes of Job

  1. To lead and carry out the installation, configuration, and commissioning of professional AV systems across educational, commercial, and public sector environments.
  2. To ensure all AV installations meet technical specifications, safety standards, and client expectations.
  3. To provide technical support, system testing, and client handover training as part of project delivery.

Key Tasks

  1. Install and configure AV equipment including speakers, projectors, microphones, mixers, lighting systems, and control interfaces.
  2. Interpret technical drawings and specifications, ensuring accurate and efficient installation.
  3. Liaise with clients and project managers to ensure smooth delivery and resolve any on-site issues.

Key Results/Objectives

  1. Deliver high-quality AV installations on time and within budget.
  2. Maintain a high standard of workmanship and customer satisfaction.
  3. Support junior technicians and contribute to team development and training.

  • Requirements:
    • Proven experience in AV installation and commissioning
    • Familiarity with brands such as Allen & Heath, LD Systems, Optoma, BenQ
    • IPAF, PASMA, or ECS certifications desirable
    • Full UK driving licence preferred
